It was not quite as bad in DM or EoB, but yeah, those could be pretty ridiculous. It's a genre I want to love but most of the noteworthy releases are either decades old or Grimrock. I really want to get into this one someday though. I probably picked it up, got an hour or two into it then put it down like four times in total at this point. I really want to like it but I find it overwhelming more than anything. I would've played a lot more but I ended up accidentally softlocking the game. Some of its mechanics are hard to work with but honestly I really enjoyed it. I tried Stonekeep & got pretty far into it, about 20 hours. Way too clunky, way too archaic, too scared of screwing up party creation to the point of making the game unplayable. I tried Wizardry 6-8 but wasn't able to get more than an hour into any of them. Since then I've tried to go back to play some earlier dungeon crawlers that inspired Grimrock but few of them have stuck. I played through Grimrock 2 immediately after & it's now one of my favorite games.
